I must be cursed... Problem with me 2nd nagant
Sounds exactly like what happened with a rifle I had. When the bolt would strip a round from the mag, the rim would actually be too wide to pass up into the receiver and would get stuck. Snap caps were small enough to pass, but live rounds would get stuck. What I would was the "slot" where...

Why bother?
Only reason I could own a modern hunting rifle is because no matter how beat up a milsurp is, I don't want to damage it anymore. I'd rather put a scratch in the stock of a modern rifle than a type 53 that looks like it came out of a swamp.

Russin Surplus 7.62x54R $74.94/440rds Delivered
Wow BostonMike, I have never heard of such laws. What is a firearms license? Is it like a drivers license, what does it cost? Out of curiosity, do you have any links handy pertaining to those laws? Not that I doubt you, but this might make for some interesting conversation on a more political forum...

Wow, MA sounds like it has some pretty crazy antics going on. I was bored and the coffee was hot, so I did some Googling and reading. Yup. And it's much worse than that. In order to possess a spent rifle cartridge (or any reloading supplies), you need a firearm license. Otherwise you can be charged...

I've been trying to shoot that way but I guess I need the sling on or a "grippier" coat. Just wasn't working for me today. Last video. Just firing without really aiming too hard to have some fun. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BRfF8xi8_60&feature=youtube_gdata_player Sent from my iPhon...

I'm in the middle of cleaning my rifle, so I'll try to get some pics with my iPhone.
First up, the bolt just to show how the extractor sits.
Next, I'll attempt to get some pics of the extractor cut

I guess I'm not sure what is meant by a sight "block". I assumed it was the spring loaded lock for the elevation. Mine look like the ones in the pictures above. The ones that aren't beveled on both edges and only beveled on one side, the bevel faces forward. What do you mean, BostonMike? ...

I would suggest that too. Remove the bolt, point the muzzle down and drop a round in. Does it drop right in? Now tilt muzzle up....does the round slide out freely?

Yes it does! That vid was towards the end of about 30-40 continuous shots. Wanted to get it hot to see if bolt sticks. It doesn't!
But, still plenty of cosmoline oozing from the stock after extended periods of fire

Went to the range this AM. Made another quick vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JFwArNCFiZ4&feature=youtube_gdata_player At 100 yards, it shoots slightly high and to the left. I was expecting it to be high, but hoped it would be lined up. This was with no bayonet. I'll try next time with bayone...

Do you have access to a bore scope or any tool to let you inspect the chamber? I've found that snap caps tend to be undersized compared to live ammo. Had a mosin that would cycle snaps, but not feed live ammo. Ended up being the ejector "slot" being slightly damaged. Was an easy fix, but t...

Thanks guys. I def haven't seen a stock like this on other refurbs.
Posting vids is easy. I have an iPhone so I just make the video (and those pics) on my phone and can upload them as well from the phone. I don't even use a computer anymore.

Been lurking for a while, decided to finally join up and post some pics. Had this rifle 8 months and love shooting it. It's def one of the nicer refurbs I've seen, especially the stock. Anyway, some pics and video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e7rwwns2C78&feature=youtube_gdata_player Sent from ...

Russian surplus bullet diameter inconsistency.
Most if the stuff I've been buying has been 1977 dated Russian surplus. Seems like for the last 3-4 months that's all my local shops have. Factory 60 first, now factory 188. Last summer I was getting Romanian 1984 dated surplus. I think I still have some of all three. Time to break out the calipers ...

Why Tula?
My opinion is that the Tula rifles are just more attractive in terms of barrel stamping through the 30s and 40s
I've passed up a few wartime Ishevsk just because the stampings aren't very eye appealing.
Again...my opinion
