Re: Replace bolt spring?
When a chambered round is difficult to seat.....head spacing works in two directions with a rimmed round....with the design of the Mosin bolt/bolt head that have often been replaced. Let me say it differently....on a rimmed round the headspace is controlled by the rim...if the bolt head is not a goo...

Re: Replace bolt spring?
I have heard of that being done....get a few spares and try it out. I doubt you will have ignition issues unless you live in the Arctic....as the springs are overkill given they were designed for very cold temps. Sticky bolt is more than likely a receiver/barrel area not properly cleared of cosmolin...

Re: M38 stock availability
Well, I get what you are saying....lots of folks do not belong in the bush with a weapon...you see the same on a range...they handle a weapon like a club.
I approach this from a different azimuth … you are correct.

Re: M38 stock availability
Yeah, I get that.....but honestly....still not much of an issue...if you can't move thru the brush without screwing up your weapon you have issues...and in the near dawn or daylight no less.

Re: M38 stock availability
Plastic and wood stocks have a use, some people insist on hunting with ancient milsurps instead of a nice Model 70. Better to beat the finish off some piece of modern plastic or wood than the original and sometimes irriplacable milsurp stock.[/quote] Well, I guess that is a consideration but my stoc...

Re: Muzzle loader range rod
Any extra rod is better than the one under the barrel that is limited in length...I like a longer loading and cleaning rod...wood is fine for me. The only time I'd use the rifles rod is if hunting or afield walking.
Also a good idea to have your ball puller and other jags with....one never knows.

Re: M38 stock availability
I agree....poly stocks or even modern wood stocks do nothing for the rifles visually or collectibly… I guess if you had a bare action for some reason.
Are the M38 stocks the same as the 91/59 stock or are there minute differences?

Re: M91/59 Review...........Post Your M91/59's here!!!!
Thanks....nice write up and I have seen some of the variances you mention on the 91/59 indicating they were 'built' that way including the M44 stock as new and finished in the same manner as the non bayonet stock. There is a good discussion as to origin (and debate) on the MN Gunboards forum and som...

Re: M91/59 Review...........Post Your M91/59's here!!!!
Yes, they are unique....but the M91/59's I've seen in a stock with the bayonet cut out are also of the same unique finish and color...almost as new...and, as I said...how does one make the statement that whoever made the rifles did not also use what was on hand...like the ground down sight ramps. So...

The 91/59 has a stock all its own. Others will fit but not correct.
Question....as the actual origin is unknown with the 91/59 how can once ascertain that an M44 stock is not correct?

Re: M91/59 Review...........Post Your M91/59's here!!!!
Question.... I have seen 91/59's (marked as such on the barrel) in M44 stocks (bayonet cut out)...is this considered a proper stock for the weapon?
My first required post...a to do....but I am interested in that answer.
