Ditto. I’m that guy that watches the transaction occur with my mouth hanging open in an internal fit of jealousy and rage lol

Re: My 91/30

I wasn't commenting on what you wrote at all, if I had been there would be a quote. I was just commenting on that shitty movie in general, and the story it was loosely based on. You were not here back when that movie first came out, we had to spend countless hours talking every dumbass Bubba in the...

Tribute to the engineering of the bayonet! Barely flexing with the weight of the rifle!

Re: My 91/30

The story exists on Zaytsev's word, and there is no reason to doubt it. That was well before the time when cameras followed troops around with instant communication available to live stream their actions to the world. Zaytsev was well covered as the communists took full advantage of his sniping act...

Re: My 91/30

The movie was set in Stalingrad, starvation happened there also, but to the Germans, not the Soviets. Death was a constant companion in the city during the siege. Vasily Grigoryevich Zaytsev was a real person, Soviet Sniper and hero of the Soviet union, his accomplishments went much farther than de...

Re: My 91/30

It was much worse than Enemy at the Gates portrayed. In Leningrad during the siege some of the population starved to death, others turned to cannibalism. There was some seriously horrible shit going on during the war in the east. For sure. It was definitely a Hollywood depiction. Also König was a f...

If I remember correctly they used mostly captured German mp40’s in that movie. I may have to go back and rewatch it.

Re: My 91/30

Well, 1934 put's it in the time frame of The Terror, Stalins late 1930's purges as well as the 1939 War on Poland, 1939-40 Winter War against Finland, 1941-44 Continuation war against Finland, 1941-45 War against Germany, and the various issues with the Japanese on the Manchurian border. Yea, most ...

Re: My 91/30

It is more likely that the gun was used in war than not used. The Soviets were chronically short of rifles at the beginning of the war when they were losing half a million a month. Not many functional rifles stayed in the warehouses. Congrats, you have a nice piece of history. Thank ya sir. Sent fr...

My 91/30

I’ve never really posted pictures of this one online, but I figured I’d go anhead and do it and see what you guys think. Other than the date I can’t see anything too remarkable about it. Everything I’ve read, and from what a couple gunsmiths have said that with the date it had a high probability of ...

Re: First SKS

Expecting my first SKS. It's a Yugo model. Besides a good cleaning especially the bolt, firing pin, etc. is this slam fire as big a problem or just having a clean gun good enough? Reading about spring kit but is it necessary? You won’t be sorry you purchased a Yugo. I love mine. It’s my favorite sh...

Longtime lurker, but new member

Hello. My name is Jeremy. I live in NW OK, and am the proud owner of 2 Mosins. I’ve owned Mosins since 1998. When I went through my first divorce in 2004 I lost my Chinese type 53. When I bought it at the pawn shop the guy called it a Chinese 49, but i later learned from some buddies that there was ...
